The two weeks we have had

It has been an amazing, emotional and long two weeks. Lets start off my stating that it is never easy to be married or have children. Here is a short breakdown of what we have done/been through: We finally filed our taxes and got everything figured out (we hired a tax consultant to do them since we live in Virginia and our residency is in Arizona... so on so forth) we are semi-pleased with the refunds that we will be getting back. All I have to say is that we are thankful for having a child and getting the tax breaks that we get.
Our next big thing is still working on potty training, Kaiya really got the hang of it these past couple of weeks. She is still in a diaper at night but she is in panties all day at school and most of the weekend, unless we go out some where for a while, she loves being a big girl and it shows. This was an emotional let go for me, I am losing my baby and gaining a little girl. It is all very exciting and she is growing up way too fast. However I still do not want anymore children. She is wild enough for me.
My mom came in town for a week (Wednesday to Wednesday). I was truly blessed to get some quality sleep, even though her and Kaiya both got sick. We had tons of fun, we went shopping, got our nails done, went to the Virginia Aquarium, out to eat a few times and watched a lot of girly movies when it rained for 3 days straight. I really needed that break and time with my mom, I am sad that we wont get to see her until she comes out next which will be this fall or if we can make it back there sometime this summer. Kaiya loved having her andma in town but it makes us miss all of our family and friends back in Arizona, Nebraska and everywhere else that they may be.
Cody spent most of last week and weekend getting ready to go to the field for a week and helping his friend fix his car. By the time Sunday rolled around he was truly exhausted and was ready for a true weekend, but like true military fashion he had to wake up at 1am on Monday morning to go to the field for a week. Luckily they pretty much got everything fixed on his friends car so we can spend some quality time when he gets home this weekend. I feel like it has pretty much been 2 full weeks since we have actually spent more then 3 hours awake together.
I have been busy as well, just the normal every day wife, mother and daughter stuff. I was blessed to be able to take 2 days off of work to spend with my mom and daughter and then a full weekend of rain, grocery shopping and laundry. Now its the middle/end of the week and I have more laundry and cleaning to be done but it will all be worth it when I get a weekend to relax and do the things that need to get done.

Well this pretty much sums up our lives, boring but crazy and we love every minute of it, in retrospect that is.

Have a blessed rest of the week!

Valentines Day

Today is one of those love it or hate it kind of holidays... I mean you cant win either way, if you dont have a valentine then you are always bitter about the holiday and wished you had one... Then once you do have one and you have been together for a while or married it is one of those holidays in which they have to buy you something.
I want to make today more about a valentines day for Kaiya. My dad always brought my sister and I a rose or a gift to school for us. It was something so special that I have always remembered and been appreciative about. I am hoping that Kaiya finds the innocent kind of love in the holiday that most kids find, I am sure school has something planned that is heart themed. She is also so proud of her projects that she makes. I love seeing her so enthusiastic about coloring and that she did it all by herself..

Anyways. I truly hope everyone has a wonderful valentines day whether you have a valentine or not. It is truly just another day.

Past Few Weeks

Its about time for another post... These past few weeks have been nothing short of a hard time... First is was lack of sleep due to Kaiya waking up at 3:30am every morning and not going back to bed until 5am (what is the point is going to sleep for 30 mins before work), to potty training and cleaning up throw up.

We will start with the first one, we went from sleeping through the night and waking up at 6:45am to waking up at 3:30am... What for? Who knows. I know that I am tired of getting up so early and not being able to go back to sleep... Even when she goes to bed later she is still waking up that early. Any ideas on how to stop it? We have tried letting her cry herself to sleep (that only results in no one sleeping and the cops knocking on the door at 4am), we have tried to lay with her but that is what she wants and expects it every time. so we are now open to suggestion.

Potty training, you would think that this would be exciting and something that is easily done... NOT! well not for us that is, she wants to do it, she has taken her diaper off, thrown it away and sat on the potty. However she doesnt always remember to go and if we remind her she thinks its a game and runs and sits on it and gets up to only later pee on my carpet 5 mins later. I have learned to have handy clean towels and vinegar water to clean up my floors. My only wish is that daycare would step up during the week and have her go on the big potty. They will only ask them if they need to and if they say no they dont make them, they will just change their diapers and let them be on their merry way. I only wish I was home with her for a full week to help her with this task.

Puke, this has been something that I HATE doing. I really dont think anyone likes to clean up someone else puke... Well the first day it wasn't even my own child  we had a small play date and from the first 5 mins of them coming over i had vomit all over my carpet to only 2 hours later a full washer of towels and a few of Kaiyas outfits gone did they finally settle down to leave. Lord and behold the next night Kaiya to start puking up. So there went a few more loads of laundry and a quick trip to the ER to get some Zofran for the nausea and on our way home at 11pm to get some sleep. I can tell you this that I am hoping that she learns to know when she will puke in the future so I dont have to scrub my carpet and wash every blanket and towel in my house.

These are just the few big things that have happened these past few weeks, others include Kaiya's fresh black eye from falling on the window seal and taxes not going to what we planned....

Sometimes in life you have to sit back, breath and laugh at your life and carry on...

Have a wonderful Tuesday!
